Prague, Czech Republic The International Symposium Series

The ICER conducted, biennially, the International Symposium and Exhibition on Environmental Contamination in Central and Eastern Europe. This symposium series was conceived and organized at the end of the Cold War by Drs. Roy Herndon (ICER-Florida State University) and Peter Richter (Technical University of Budapest). The ICER manages all aspects of the planning, organization and implementation of this symposium series using ICER staff and supported by state-of-the-art computer hardware and software.

Prague, Czech Republic Scientists, engineers and other environmental specialists from around the world attend these meetings to discuss environmental, technology-based and human health related problems, and to arrive at solutions to these problems. These symposia are designed to provide the ICER with an on-going database of information which can be used by the U.S. Department of Energy and others to identify and evaluate the status of technologies which have the potential for being deployed at U.S. sites as well as at sites in Central and Eastern Europe.

Prague, Czech Republic This symposium series was initiated in 1992 in Budapest, Hungary. In 1994 the symposium was again held in Budapest; the 1996 and 1998 meetings were held in Warsaw, Poland. The Fifth (2000) and Sixth (2003) International Symposium and Exhibition on Environmental Contamination in Central and Eastern Europe conducted in Prague, Czech Republic were both great successes. Over 700 people participated each year including 400 Student Scholars and Symposium Fellows. 45 countries were represented.
